The Invincible Agasthya: Agasthya is revered in avatars such as Maharishi, Rishi, Muni, Sage, Guru, Siddhar, Appa. It is extremely difficult to fathom such a multifaceted mystic author of hymns whose life spans four yugas and 48 days and whose vibrant presence is felt across South East Asia. Omnipresent in the Vedas, Upanishads, Scriptures, Puranas, legends, myths, mythology, and folklore, it is possible to capture the essence of his genius by making a stupendous effort to understand his inestimable contributions to almost every domain of human activity from which a massive fund of knowledge emerged in astronomy, medicine, spirituality and theosophy. Equally remarkable are his lessons for an unfailing life of fulfillment in socio-cultural, economic, and conjugal aspects. His enormous body of literature in almost every conceivable subject is widely used for extensive studies and research by indologists and scolars of indian studies. It is no wonder that ancient Indians honored him by naming the brightest star in the south after him 'Agasthya Star' ( the Canopus). Since there is no record of his demise, he is considered to be immortal. This belief takes one far and beyond the legends and myths about the 'perfect sage'.
